As a creative yet technical type-A personality, I created John Glover Photography in 2014 and have spent my time since then getting paid for various commercial photography assignments. However, I’ve always immensely enjoyed the niche of portrait photography that is the headshot. A headshot is the photo that most accurately captures who you are (personality and all) when done properly. Every single person on this planet is unique in their own way. No two faces are exactly alike. This keeps things interesting and challenging for me. Getting each and every one of my unique clients to express sincere personality into my camera is extraordinarily difficult, but absolutely the goal of each session. I have carefully honed my toolset to help meet this challenge, and I’m prepared in both technical and artistic ways in which other photographers are not.
A good headshot moves the viewer deeply. Sometimes you can’t pinpoint why, but it’s there. A sincere look – a real connection with the viewer. Some photos lack this connection, sometimes even those taken by other ‘professionals’. In the end, the headshot needs to tell the story of ‘you’ better than any other single photo can.
My views, techniques and opinions about headshot photography are not entirely my own. I studied under world-renowned headshot photographer Peter Hurley. If you haven’t seen his work you should check it out. In my opinion, Peter re-invented the headshot and has helped 1,000’s of actors, models and corporate professionals connect with his camera (and therefore, their audience) in a way that is entirely unique on so many levels. This is my goal as well, and I’ve had such feedback from my clients on many occasions.
I look forward to meeting you, and if at all possible, helping you to capture a moment in time from your great journey.
